This smart gym kit monitors every movement your body makes to coach you towards your fitness goals.
It’s all well and good slapping on a top-end fitness tracker to smarten up your workout, but can a Fitbit tell you that you’re a couple of inches away from the perfect press-up? Exactly. Step in Enflux Smart Clothing…
Currently garnering funding support over on Kickstarter, Enflux Smart Clothing is a range of sensor-packed gym kit that uses 10 embedded 3D motion sensors to record the full motion of your body while you exercise.
With an app on your phone, you can plug in your headphones and get real-time feedback on your form and progress to spur you on, or help you alter your technique in the moment. After every workout, you’ll even be able to watch an animated avatar replicate your technique, joined by a ghost avatar demonstrating exactly how your body should be moving.
The depth of movement analysis is actually pretty impressive, and a lot more detailed than you might expect. That array of body sensors can measure power, form efficiency, join rotation angles, balance, velocity, and heart rate, and lots more variables you probably didn’t even know existed.
It’s not all about pushing your body to the limit though. If you’re tethered to your phone via a pair of headphones, the Enflux app will make sure you’re taking regular breaks, and will let you know if it’s time to up the pace or have a breather.
When the Smart Clothing launches in March 2017, it will support weight training, plyometrics, and running. Its makers are working on adding other activities like yoga, basketball, cycling, golf, and football later on.
If you’re comfortable with the idea of your gym clothes knowing you better than you do, you can jump in line for an early-bird package of an Enflux smart shirt and pants right now on Kickstarter for $249 (£174). UK customers can expect to pay an extra $30 £21) for shipping.
