Levitation Works have invented what may be the most magical smart watch charger ever - it levitates your watch while wirelessly charging it.
Magic is real, finally, and that magic is science. Thanks to tech start up Levitation Works (a company solely dedicated to making things levitate, heroes all) you can now charge your smart watch while it floats in the air.
Known as Lift, the charger base lets your watch hover a few inches above it, while charging, and acts as a sleek, simple lamp with not in use. Claiming to be inspired by Nikola Tesla’s thoughts on ‘transferring electricity through the ether,’ the Levitation Works have made one of the most exciting chargers we’ve seen.
We could watch it for hours.
So far the charger will work with all models of Pebble or Apple Watch – there’s no word yet on whether they’ll be expanding their capabilities to work with other brands.
The Kickstarter campaign for Lift reached it’s target in a predictable matter of days, and still has weeks left to run, so if you’re after the delightful device, pre-ordering with a pledge is the best way to go. If you’re quick, you could save up to 100USD with the early bird rewards.
Levitation Works plans to ship sometime in October, which will give you plenty of time to weigh up the pros and cons of keeping it all to yourself, or giving it as the best Christmas present of all time. Go with your conscience.
And with any luck, once they’ve got this out the door, Levitation Works will get to work making other devices and appliances defy gravity. We won’t be happy until our homes are full of floating technology.
