Here's yet another great reason to jump aboard the Apple HomeKit train.

Incipio has added yet another string to the bow of smart home wizard AppleHomekit with the launch of two new HomeKit-enabled smart devices: the CommandKit Wireless Smart Outlet, and the Wireless Smart Light Bulb Adaptor.

The CommandKit Wireless Smart Outlet does just what you’d expect, adding a WiFi brain to any small appliance, lamp, or device you plug into it. Thanks to its HomeKit friendship, you can turn your newly connected gadgets on and off using Siri voice commands, or just using Incipio’s own CommandKit app.

Device number two, the Wireless Smart Light Bulb Adaptor, is a dinky screw-on gizmo that works with existing lighting fixtures in your home. Once it’s screwed in place, you’ll have the ability to remotely turn your lights on and off by simply speaking, or again using the CommandKit app.

The most exciting thing about any new HomeKit-ready gadget is the potential to have it communicate with the other smart devices in your HomeKit family, creating smart home ‘scenes’ and schedules to fit around your lifestyle. Incipio’s smart duo is no exception. The smart outlet and lightbulb gadget will work in harmony with all of your other devices – regardless of their manufacturer – to put seamless home automation at your fingertips.

What’s more, both devices will measure the energy consumption of your smart home, crunching the data in your app to give you an insight into how much electricity your various appliances are guzzling. In the long run, this should hopefully save you a fair few pennies.

Both the CommandKit Wireless Smart Outlet and Wireless Smart Light Bulb Adaptor are available to order now for just $39.99 (£28) each. Shipping to the UK bumps that up by $7.99 (£5.60).
