The revamped Tile is smaller, more versatile and ready to find your phone.
Tile has given its original Bluetooth tracker a makeover, and the brand new Tile Mate is tons better at finding your lost stuff.
So what’s changed? Tile says its new addition is 25% smaller than the original Tile, making it a much more portable, versatile little tracker that won’t add too much bulk to your bag, purse, or even your luggage. It’s also got a handy hole in the corner, which doesn’t sound like much, but it means you can easily attach Tile Mate to a key chain.
As well as being significantly downsized, Tile Mate comes with the new ability to track your phone. Press the gadget, and your lost phone will ring even if it’s on silent.
Elsewhere, not much has changed; the app still has pretty much the same useful range of tricks to keep your stuff close by. If you leave your wallet on the bus, for instance, you can mark it as lost via the app and it will then use any Tile-paired phone in the area search for your lost item – a nifty feature commonly referred to as Crowd GPS.
You can also track your stuff on a map, using the last logged Bluetooth location of your lost thing. This makes it a great little tool for finding where you parked you car, or checking if you left your brolly in a restaurant. You can also assign one of four ringtones to Tile Mate to make it ring when you call it from the app.
You can buy Tile Mate now for £23 from Tile’s online shop, or pick up a pack of four for just £65. If you really want to pull out all the stops, you can buy a combo pack containing 2 Tile Mates and 2 Tile Slim devices – Tile’s skinny wallet-tracker.
